- BE NICE! The autosampler is a shared resource. Please be considerate to others when using it.
- The sample changer normally operates on a first-come, first-served basis (FCFS). Do NOT attempt to circumvent the system. Any attempt to run your sample out of order without staff approval may result in penalties up to and including termination of your facility access. If you have a legitimate research need to run samples with priority, contact us and we will move your sample to the head of the queue.
- Do NOT enter sample information into IconWeb if your sample is not ready.
- Do NOT exceed 20 minutes per experiment and total experiment time of 30 minutes per sample in the day queue. Experiments that exceed these limits MUST be submitted to the night queue, which operates between 8 pm and 8 am. If you have a legitimate research need to run long experiments in the day queue, contact us to get permission BEFORE setting them up.
- Do NOT submit more than five samples to the day queue. Any additional samples MUST be submitted to the night queue. If you have a legitimate research need to run more than five samples in the day queue, contact us to get permission BEFORE setting them up.
- The day/night queue rules above apply AT ALL TIMES, both during the day and at night. Submitting experiments to the day queue between 8 pm and 8 am is NOT the same as submitting them to the night queue.
- Do NOT submit experiments before placing your sample(s) into the changer.
- Make sure you are in the CORRECT ROOM so you don’t take a sample out of the wrong spectrometer.
- Do NOT take out another user’s sample from the autosampler unless you are absolutely sure that you are in the correct room and the sample is not queued to run or waiting to be submitted (see IconWeb instructions for details).
- If you break a tube or find a broken tube or pieces of glass in the sample changer, press the big, red emergency stop button on the changer’s control panel.
- Do NOT try to fix the sample changer by yourself. If you notice a problem please contact us for assistance.
- Do NOT try to restart the automation queue by yourself. Let us know, preferably by posting to the automation error channel on Teams. We do try to fix the queues as soon as we can even outside working hours.
